Boys Haircut Tutorial

Hi everyone! I finally have a boys haircut tutorial up! It is very simple and fast. If you don’t have clippers at home, you can always buy it at your local grocery store (if they provide it) or online. I bought mine on They are perfect for beginners and they come with 9 different size guards as well as a right and left ear trimmer guards. It also comes with shears, 2 comb, and a lubricant oil for your clippers. Make sure you have something for your child to either watch or play with while he is getting a haircut to help him stay still. Lets get started!

Step 1

Step 1: Chose a guard size to your desired length (I chose a 3 for the bottom fade). Tilt your child’s head back and start at the back of the neck and work your way up.

Step 2

Step 2: Cut all the way up until the crown of you child’s head. Make sure to go around a few times to trim any missed spots

Step 3

Step 3: Once you are satisfied with the length on the back, start working your way to the side of his head. Do this for both side and make sure to go over any patches.

Step 4

Step 4: Once you are done with the back and sides, chose your desired guard size for the crown of his head. (I chose a number 7). Start at the front of his head and work your way back.

Step 5

Step 5: Your child should now have an almost finished haircut. If you are satisfied with the length of your child’s hair, lets move on to the next step. If not, go ahead and chose a shorter guard and repeat this process.

Step 6

Step 6: Now there will be a difference where the crown and the sides connect. Chose a guard size that is in between the length of the side guard (3) and the length of the crown guard (7). I chose a number 5 guard to fade and blend his hair. Only go up an inch or two, to blend in the sides.

Step 7

Step 7: We are almost done! Time for the clean up. I recommend a number 1 guard to trim the neckline and around the ears to get a much cleaner look. Your child will not like this step because it is close to his ears so make sure you have somebody to hold his head gently in place while you trim or have him watch a show he likes to distract him.

Step 8

Now you are all done! You can always go back and trim off any patches that are left behind, or if you are satisfied, go ahead and bathe him and make sure to get all of the excess hair off of him.

I hope this tutorial was helpful! We would love to see some pictures/videos on how it went. Stay tuned for a tutorial on a haircut for girls!
